Job Summary:

Editorial Associate for Digital Publications
The Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and the Jewish Reconstructionist Communities seek a full time Editorial Associate for Digital Publications. The person in this position will work within the Community Engagement department, to manage the Web properties of the movement (primarily and, manage other digital communications vehicles (such as newsletters, blogs, and social media), and edit educational resources produced by the department. The Editorial Associate for Digital Publications will work closely with the executive editor of the two websites and with the Content Management Associate to maintain the sites, edit and send mass emails, and create, edit, and send email newsletters and other communications as well as work on other projects as assigned.

  • Responsibilities:

  • - Organizing the site structure of to align with website best practices and optimize public engagement with the site.
  • - Editorial oversight of, including re-organizing the site structure to meet the needs of the newly-reorganized Department of Community Engagement, identifying gaps in articles and materials on the site, and establishing a site update schedule.
  • - Collaborating with Community Engagement staff to have site resources written, including assigning authors or drafting materials, as appropriate.
  • - Assist Ritualwell executive editor in oversight of site structure of, author assignment, etc.
  • - Assist the Ritualwell editor in developing blog posts and publication schedule.
  • - Work with Content Management Associate to upload site materials and maintain site structure or expand, as needed.
  • - Interface with Web contractor as needed to support technical aspects of the two websites (Drupal updates) and recommend policy regarding future technical platform, hosting, and other issues.

  • Qualifications:

  • - Strategic and entrepreneurial thinker regarding public digital engagement.
  • - Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to edit others’ work.
  • - Excellent project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meeting individual deadlines and helping collaborators stay on track.
  • - Website content management experience required, preferably in a Drupal environment. (Additional experience with WordPress is a plus.)
  • - Attention to detail.
  • - Social media management experience is a plus.
  • - Nonprofit communications experience preferred.
  • - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading and copy editing.
  • - Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • - BA or equivalent professional experience.
  • - Familiarity with the Jewish online world and Jewish social media engagement preferred.

About the Position
This position reports to the vice president for community engagement and is part of the Community Engagement team. The position is located at RRC’s Wyncote PA campus. Salary is commensurate with experience. RRC offers a full benefits package including health insurance, 401(K), paid time off, and time off for major Jewish and American holidays.
